Greenwich Pollinator Pathway has grown hundreds of native trees from seed and bought other bareroot native trees that we are growing out to plant in the fall of 2026. Following the method developed by Japanese botanist, Akira Miyawaki, we will plant 1500 trees—including canopy, sub-canopy, understory and shrub layers—across 35 species in a 3000 square-foot circle. This circle is located at Greenwich Audubon, our partner in this project, in a forest gap that has been overwhelmed with introduced problem plants. These plants and vines will be removed and the soil conditioned in preparation for planting in the late fall.
