Bur Oak Land Trust preserves and protects land in Eastern Iowa.
Bur Oak Land Trust’s properties are comprised of woodland, prairie, and wetlands. The Land Trust makes these areas accessible to the public in a state that is mostly corn and soybeans and has very little public land. Iowa’s native habitat is largely gone, so our work of protecting and restoring what little is left is vital. Besides preserving the land, we bring people closer to nature.
Bur Oak is a well-established non-profit, supported by donations, grants, and the AmeriCorps program. It started as an all-volunteer organization and has grown in scope over four decades. Caring landowners have worked with the Trust to place their land in our stewardship.
