My artistic abilities have been focused mainly on redesigning areas of land. One day I chose to sit in the garden with pencil and paper and draw whatever movements I could see: the dragonfly hovering over the bee balm and wild geranium, the birds up above and their air travels from feeder to tall trees, the butterflies all so busy floating from flower to flower.
But I wondered, where did the skippers go that I had seen last year, a small butterfly like being? I drew a little picture of one on my paper and lo and behold, the first one I had seen all year landed right near it!
This amazing connection, this wonderful feeling of being so much an important part of this natural world inspires me so deeply.
I hope to invite others to paint, draw or garden with me on my land.
